What are your initial thoughts about the concept of Literacy with ICT (LwICT)?
a lot of teachers are currently integrating ICT into their classrooms. I see younger teachers embracing the technology more than seasoned teachers.
LwICT is a great way for teachers to keep their students attention in the classroom. Teachers need to keep up with the digital learning of their students and accept it as a great learning tool.

What implementation barriers for LwICT do you foresee at Senior Years?
cost is a major barrier if we expect divisions to be able to provide technology for all students
at the same time I agree with the philosophy of using the technology that students are already bringing into the school with their cellphones and letting them use them in an educational way to enhance their classroom environment
What opportunities does LwICT present for Senior Years?
for senior years I think lwict should be a preparation for careers that our students are going to have
I think we have the responsibility to teach students proper etiquette for using technology when they leave our schools ie. not checking text messages when they are working (pumping our gas, scanning our groceries)
we will be teaching students to be better digital citizens
lwict should be a tool to help teachers keep their students engaged in the learning
What professional learning is required initially to prepare Senior Years teachers to begin to use the LwICT continuum?
an introduction to the continuum and understanding that what we are currently doing in class is great and that we can use the technology to help enhance our learning.
teachers might need inservicing on different software and hardware applications to implement into their course
What types of ICT do you currently have in your Senior Years classroom?
I currently teach mainly in a lab situation that has access to digital cameras, video and audio recording capabilities, scanners, Internet, etc.
There are currently no computers set up for use in classrooms individually (pods), but one teacher does have a set of laptops for classroom use that could be used by other classes.
What types of ICT are available to you in your school, but not in your classroom?
we currently have 4 labs (3 with around 24 computers each, and 1 with 34ish computers)
library signs out the digital cameras, video cameras, microphones, etc.
about 5 classrooms have smart boards or the smart tablets
3 classrooms have big screen tvs that are used as projectors
around 5 classrooms/labs have lcd projectors
What subjects and grades do you teach and how do you currently use ICT to enhance student learning?
web design/digital filmmaking
applying information and communication technology 1 &2(2 sections)
grade 9 art
my students use the Internet to do art history research projects
we research different art techniques online
we use Internet based videos to learn art techniques
my students will be taking pictures of their work to create an e-portfolio of their assignments and work. And if time they will be creating a web page to display their work
